Formerly known as Powergen, has been owned by German energy service provider E·ON AG since April 2001.
E.On state that their responsibilities are to act responsibly, meet customer needs, ensure reliable energy, create a low-carbon society, reduce their environmental impact and to 'value our people.'
They have built one of the UK's largest biomass power stations, as well as currently testing a wave power device off Orkney. The company claim to be 'committed to schemes that bring income, local employment opportunities, potential tourism and educational interest to the local communities that we work in'.
